WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross women's rowing team had 23 student-athletes named to the 2011 Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, as announced by the league office, including freshman Becky Musgrave (Danville, Pa.) who earned a perfect 4.0 grade-point average in the spring semester. Musgrave, who is a Classics major, was just one of eight members of the women's rowing Academic Honor Roll to record a 4.0. Holy Cross' 23 selections were the third most in the league.
The other members of the team to be named to the honor roll were seniors Katherine Byrns (Manhasset, N.Y.), Nicole Gabana (East Stroudsburg, Pa.) and Jackie Jankowski (Shrewsbury, Mass.); juniors Kate Broderick (West Newbury, Mass.), Beth Charron (Manchester, N.H.), Jill Sollazzo (Bethlehem, Pa.), Mollie Sydlowski (Amesbury, Mass.) and Amanda Woodgate (Duxbury, Mass.); sophomores Michele Grenier (Menands, N.Y.), Catherine Roy (Holliston, Mass.), Claire Scherer (Kenmore, N.Y.), Colleen Sharry (Braintree, Mass.) and Aleks Torres (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.); and freshmen Laura Alves (North Grosvenordale, Conn.), Kelsey Marakovits (Rocky Hill, Conn.), Meiling May (Hanover, Mass.), Kiley McLean (Elmhurst, Ill.), Gloria McMahon (Barrington, R.I.), Bridget Schirripa (Lexington, Mass.), Debbie Sokolowski (Collingdale, Pa.), Elizabeth Tobey (Essex, Vt.) and Annemarie Wiesen (Melrose, Mass.).
A total of 140 student-athletes from women's rowing teams around the league were named to the Academic Honor Roll. To be eligible for the Academic Honor Roll a winter or spring sport student-athlete must earn a 3.20 grade-point average in the spring semester.
