Women's Rowing Places Eighth At ECAC National Invitational
WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross women's rowing team placed eighth of 21 teams at the ECAC National Invitational Rowing Championship on Sunday on Lake Quinsigamond. The novice eight earned a spot in the finals and placed fourth, while the varsity eight and the second varsity eight each finished second in the petite finals. Williams won the point trophy. The season has now concluded for the Crusaders.
The novice eight (7:05.736) qualified for the finals as it finished second in its heat of six boats behind Williams (6:46.835). Williams (7:01.675) then won the finals, Trinity (7:08.071) finished second, RIT (7:21.137) placed third, the Crusaders (7:24.543) finished fourth, Tufts (7:37.072) placed fifth and Mt. Holyoke (7:45.448) finished sixth.
The second varsity eight (6:52.283) finished third in its heat of six boats behind Williams (6:38.684) and Trinity (6:45.577). Smith (6:56.797) won the petite finals, as the Crusaders (6:57.145) placed second, Williams Smith (7:03.498) finished third, Tufts (7:05.729) placed fourth, Hamilton (7:06.086) finished fifth and St. Lawrence (7:15.263) placed sixth.
The varsity eight (6:46.014) placed fourth in its heat of seven boats behind Williams (6:26.049), Trinity (6:37.335) and Simmons (6:44.675). Then in the petite finals, New Hampshire (7:00.216) placed first as it just edged the Crusaders (7:00.996). WPI (7:03.507) finished third, Coast Guard (7:05.751) placed fourth, Hamilton (7:10.665) finished fifth and Simmons (7:19.673) placed sixth.
