Kate Broderick & Odet Douglass Earn All-Patriot League Honors

Kate Broderick

WORCESTER, Mass. Holy Cross junior Kate Broderick (West Newbury, Mass.) and senior Odet Douglass (St. Simons Island, Ga.) have earned All-Patriot League Women's Rowing honors. Broderick made the first team and Douglass was selected to the second team. This is the first time that either athlete has earned this honor.

Broderick has been a member of the varsity eight in all eight spring regattas. She was also a member of the open four and open heavy championship eight boats at the 40th Schuylkill Regatta on Oct. 30 as the team tied for first out of 39 teams for the points trophy. This spring season the varsity eight defeated Simmons (April 3) in a dual-race, placed first versus Boston College and Connecticut to win the Irving-Christensen Cup (April 17) and defeated UMass (April 23) in a dual-race. The varsity eight also placed fourth at the Patriot League Championship. Broderick has earned Patriot League Academic Honor Roll accolades twice and Earned 2010 ECAC/NIRC Stewards' All-Academic team honors. She also rowed with the varsity eight in all 14 races as a sophomore. 

Odet Douglass

Douglass has been a member of the second varsity eight in all eight regattas this spring season. She also rowed for the open four at the Schuylkill Regatta. The second varsity eight defeated New Hampshire (April 2) and Simmons (April 3) in dual-races. The second varsity eight also placed third at the Patriot League Championship. As a junior with the second varsity eight she placed third at the Patriot League Championship and second at the New England Championship, while she placed fifth at the ECAC National Invitational. As a sophomore she rowed for the second varsity eight crew that placed third at the Patriot League Championship and second at the New England Championship. As a freshman she rowed for the novice eight that placed fourth at the ECAC National Invitational Championship.

The Crusaders, who placed fourth at the Patriot League Championship, will compete at the 2011 New England Championship on Lake Quinsigamond on Saturday, April 30, at 8:00 a.m.
