Women's Rowing Places 13th At ECAC National Invitational

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross women's rowing team placed 13th out of 20 teams at the ECAC National Invitational on Sunday on Lake Quinsigamond. The second varsity eight finished fifth in the grand finals, while the varsity eight won the petite finals. The Crusaders recorded 32 points, while Ithaca won the team championship with 65 points.

Holy Cross' second varsity eight (7:14.670) qualified for the grand finals by finishing second in its heat as the Crusaders were edged by St. Lawrence (7:14.444). The Crusaders (7:13.736) then placed fifth in the grand finals as Williams (6:46.158) won the title, Bates (6:59.959) placed second, Ithaca (7:01.963) placed third, Trinity (7:02.513) placed fourth and St. Lawrence (7:20.873) placed sixth.

After finishing fourth in its heat, Holy Cross' varsity eight (6:55.213) won the petite finals. William Smith (6:57.688) finished second, Wellesley (6:58.990) finished third, Mount Holyoke (6:59.606) finished fourth, Smith (7:03.345) finished fifth and Simmons (7:03.782) finished sixth.  

In the open four grand finals, the Crusaders (8:17.382) placed fourth, while Connecticut College (7:59.831) won the championship. WPI (8:06.591) finished second, Trinity (8:10.636) finished third, Colby (8:22.670) finished fifth, RIT (8:37.602) finished sixth and Smith (8:55.380) finished seventh.   

The novice eight (7:58.310) finished fifth in its heat and was then disqualified in the petite finals.

This concludes the season for the Crusaders.
