Crusaders Place Third At Patriot League Championship

CAMDEN, N.J. – The Holy Cross women's rowing team finished third out of six teams at the Patriot League Championship on the Cooper River on Sunday morning. Bucknell earned 35 total points to claim its fifth straight league title. Navy placed second (31 points), followed by Holy Cross (18 points), Colgate (16 points), MIT (15 points) and Lehigh (6 points).   

In the first race of the morning, Navy (8:16.10) won the varsity four and earned six points, followed by Bucknell (8:20.30) who earned five points, Holy Cross (9:10.80) who earned four points and Lehigh (9:22.10) who received three points. 

Bucknell (7:22.83) won the second varsity eight race and claimed 12 points, while Navy (7:32.09) finished second and tallied 10 points. Holy Cross (7:43.31) finished third and tallied eight points, MIT (7:57.54) finished fourth and tallied six points, and Colgate (8:06.93) finished fifth and received four points. 

The Bison (7:11.60) clinched the title by winning the varsity eight race and earning 18 points as they just edged the Midshipmen (7:13.80) who earned 15 points. The Raiders (7:20.10) placed third and earned 12 points, the Engineers (7:30.10) placed fourth and earned nine points, the Crusaders (7:36.20) placed fifth and earned six points, and the Mountain Hawks (7:41.90) finished sixth and had three points.

The Bucknell varsity eight earned Patriot League Boat of the Year honors and Bison coach Stephen Kish was named Patriot League Coach of the Year.

The Crusaders return to action when they will compete at the New England Championship on Lake Quinsigamond on Saturday May 1 at 8:00 a.m.
