WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross women's rowing team competed against Boston College and UConn on Lake Quinsigamond on Sunday morning. The Crusaders participated in five races as they won the novice four, and finished second in the varsity eight, the second varsity eight and the novice eight. Holy Cross placed third in the varsity four race.
“We raced hard both days this weekend against very strong competition and did very well,” said Holy Cross head coach and director of rowing Patrick Diggins. “We're still working on a few aspects of our racing and we hope to be heading into our championship races with our boats executing our race strategies well.”
The varsity eight race was won by Boston College (7:00), while Holy Cross (7:05.6) placed second and UConn (7:13.9) placed third. In the second varsity eight race, the Huskies (7:09.94) finished first followed by the Crusaders (7:12.08) and the Eagles (7:32.01). Boston College (7:56.0) took the varsity four race as UConn (8:04.33) finished second and Holy Cross (8:29.04) finished third.
Holy Cross (7:57.9) defeated UConn (8:17.08) to win the novice four race, while UConn (7:23.5) won the novice eight race followed by Holy Cross (7:34.4) and Boston College (8:08.4).
The Crusaders return to action on Sunday, April 25, when they will travel to Camden, N.J., to compete at the Patriot League Championship on Cooper River. Go here to view the 2010 Patriot League Championship website.
