Crusaders Compete Versus UMass, MIT, UNH, Smith & Williams
WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross women’s rowing team competed against UMass, Patriot League opponent MIT, New Hampshire, Smith and Williams on Lake Quinsigamond on Saturday morning. The Crusaders placed third in the second and third varsity eight races, while they finished fourth in the varsity eight and varsity four races. Williams won all of the varsity races.
"We were pleased with our results for each of our boats," said head coach Patrick Diggins. "Williams, the current DIII champion, certainly lived up to their reputation as did the UMass Minutewomen. In the varsity race, we were very happy to be in contact with the UMass boat, and we just sprinted a little late to get by MIT, the latest addition to Patriot League Rowing. All of the programs that we raced are top notch and we were happy to be in the thick of it at the finish this early in the season. We continue to keep our focus on being our fastest in early May."
The varsity eight race was won by Williams (7:14.60), followed by UMass (7:29.51), MIT (7:36.73), Holy Cross (7:37.33) and New Hampshire (7:41.11).
