Holy Cross Women's Rowing Takes Part In Princeton Chase Regatta

PRINCETON,
N.J. - The Holy Cross women's rowing team continued its
fall season at the Princeton Chase Regatta on Lake Carnegie in
Princeton, N.J. The Crusaders entered two boats into the women's
varsity eight, with the first varsity eight finishing in 38th place
and the second varsity eight taking 50th.
Led by senior coxswain Caroline Krug (Buffalo,
N.Y.), the first varsity eight boat of senior
Monika Mangsen (Holden, Mass.), junior
Katherine Byrns (Manhasset, N.Y.), sophomores
Beth Charron (Manchester, N.H.), Meaghan
Pedlow (Charlotte, N.C.), Kate Broderick (West
Newbury, Mass.) and Eliza Gettel (Merrimack,
N.H.) and freshmen Aleks Torres (Saratoga Springs,
N.Y.) and Catherine Roy (Holliston,
Mass.) finished in 16:47.320 for 38th place. The second
varsity eight of freshman coxswain Claire Scherer (Kenmore,
N.Y.), seniors Ashley Fish (Hingham,
Mass.), Abigail Hammond (Holliston,
Mass.), Mara Piltin (Medford, N.J.) and
Mary Kate Cullen (Long Valley, N.J.), junior
Jackie Jankowski (Shrewsbury, Mass.) and
sophomores Jackie Esperti (Charlton, N.Y.) and
Mollie Sydlowski (Amesbury, Mass.) crossed the
line in 50th with a time of 17:22.505.
Yale's first varsity eight took first in the race with a time of
14:46.323 on the three-mile course. Virginia's first varsity eight
took second, finishing two seconds back. The first varsity eights
from Princeton and Brown finished third and fourth, respectively.
Virginia's second varsity eight took fifth. Fifty-five boats took
part in the women's varsity eight race overall.
The Crusaders return to action in two weeks when the team's novice
rowers participate in the Green Monster Regatta in Hanover, N.H on
Saturday, Nov. 7. The start time is set for 12:00 p.m.
