Holy Cross Women's Rowing Races At The Head Of The Charles

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -
The Holy Cross women's rowing team participated in the
45th Head of the Charles Regatta in Cambridge, Mass. on
Saturday-Sunday, Oct. 17-18.
The Crusaders featured three boats in competition during the
two-day event. In the Club Eight race on Saturday, the boat of
senior coxswain Caroline Krug (Buffalo, N.Y.),
senior Monika Mangsen (Holden, Mass.), junior
Katherine Byrns (Manhasset, N.Y.), sophomores
Beth Charron (Manchester, N.H.), Meaghan
Pedlow (Charlotte, N.C.), Kate Broderick (West
Newbury, Mass.) and Eliza Gettel (Merrimack,
N.H.) and freshmen Aleks Torres (Saratoga Springs,
N.Y.) and Catherine Roy (Holliston,
Mass.) took 11th out of 41 boats, finishing with a time of
18:10.479. In the Club Four event also on Saturday, the boat of
freshman coxswain Clare Scherer (Kenmore, N.Y.),
seniors Mary Kate Cullen (Long Valley, N.J.) and
co-captain Abigail Hammond (Holliston, Mass.) and
sophomores Jackie Esperti (Charlton, N.Y.) and
Mollie Sydlowski (Amesbury, Mass.) finished in
13th place out of 54 boats in 20:04.518.
In the Lightweight Eight race on Sunday, the boat of sophomore
coxswain Amanda Woodgate (Duxbury, Mass.), seniors
Jessica Ripp (Amherst, N.H.) and Erika
Harrington (Bellingham, Wash.), junior Claire
Moynahan (Sandwich, Mass.) and sophomores Callie
Gorman (Ridgewood, N.J.), Sarah Palilla (Folsom,
Calif.), Amy Boerman (Shelburne, Vt.) and
Jess Daly (Scarborough, Maine) finished in 14th
out of 14 boats with a time of 21:11.350.
The Crusaders return to action Sunday, Oct. 25 when they travel to
Princeton, N.J. to participate in the Princeton Chase Regatta on
Lake Carnegie. The starting time for the event is scheduled for
10:00 a.m.
