- The Holy Cross women's rowing team kicks off its fall season with the Snake Regatta Saturday, Oct. 10, on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass. The races are scheduled to start at 8:00 a.m.
- Seniors Abigail Hammond (Holliston, Mass.) and Mara Piltin (Medford, N.J.) were named captains for 2009-2010 by head coach Patrick Diggins. Hammond was a member of the varsity eight as a junior, where she was a member of the crew that placed third at the Snake Regatta. She also was a member of the varsity eight that finished third at the Patriot League Championship and fifth at the New England Championship last year. Piltin split time between the varsity eight and second varsity eight last season as a junior. A three-time selection to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, she rowed with the second varsity eight that finished third at the Patriot League Championship and second at the New England Championship last season. Both traveled to England in 2008 to row at the Royal Women's Henley Regatta.
- The team has four meets in four weeks this fall. After the Snake Regatta, the squad will participate in the 45th Head of the Charles in Boston, Mass., on Oct. 17-18. Holy Cross will then take part in Princeton Chase Regatta in Princeton, N.J. (Oct. 25), before concluding at the Green Monster Regatta in Hanover, N.H. (Nov. 7).
- 2009-2010 marks the third consecutive year that Holy Cross will open its season on Lake Quinsigamond.
