Sutton Named Patriot League Rookie Of Year

WORCESTER, Mass. - Holy Cross freshman midfielder Trish Sutton (Saratoga Springs, NY) was named Patriot League Women's Lacrosse Rookie of the Year in a vote by the league's coaches. She is the first Crusader to win Rookie of the Year since Jen Amendola won the award in 1998. Sutton also earned All-Patriot League Second Team accolades.

Sutton led the conference in scoring tallying 48 goals and adding 23 assists for 71 points this season. Her 71 points set a new freshman scoring record and tied the HC single-season record set by Amendola in 2000. Sutton's 48 goals also were the third highest single-season total recorded by a Crusader.

Sutton, who ranked 15th in the nation in points per game, scored a career high six goals against Bucknell. She scored four goals and added four assists for eight points in a win over St. Bonaventure and then added four goals and handed out three assists for seven points against Quinnipiac. She matched her career high in points with eight (five goals and three assists) against Albany.

Holy Cross finished the season with a record of 8-9, 2-4 in Patriot League play.
