Holy Cross Women's Lacrosse Names 2009 Captains

WORCESTER, Mass. - The Holy Cross women's lacrosse program has named senior Kaitlyn Curley (New York, N.Y.), senior Samantha Hallowell (Duxbury, Mass.) and junior MaryKate Finnegan (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) as 2009 team captains. All three players have had the experience of winning a Patriot League title as Curley and Hallowell were a part of the 2006 and 2007 championships and Finnegan was a member of the 2007 team.
A midfielder, Curley has played in 35 career games, including in all 16 contests last year. As a junior she scored two goals and had one assist for three points, while she also picked up 12 ground balls. For her career she has four goals and two assists for six points. Curley was named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll as a sophomore and junior.
Also a midfielder, Hallowell has played in 30 career games, including starting in all 19 contests in 2007. After studying abroad last season, Hallowell is expected to be a major contributor this year. As a sophomore in 2007, she tied for second on the team in ground balls with 33, while she recorded her first collegiate assist in 2006.
Finnegan has played in 19 career games and is coming off a season in which she started in all 16 games on defense. In 2008, she had 22 ground balls, six draw controls and nine caused turnovers. Last year, Finnegan was named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.
The Crusaders will return 23 players and welcome six freshmen in 2009.
