Center Valley, Pa. - Holy Cross junior Patricia Sutton (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) was named the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week for games through April 2, as announced by league officials today. This is Sutton's third Player of the Week award this season.
Sutton scored five goals and added four assists in a 2-0 week for the Crusaders as Holy Cross improved to 4-0 in the Patriot League this season. She tallied six pivotal points in a League win over Lafayette, scoring the contest's first two goals and adding a goal and an assist 24 seconds apart in the second half to halt a three-goal Lafayette run. In Holy Cross' 18-7 win over Siena on Wednesday, Sutton tallied a goal and two assists. The Crusaders have scored 36 goals in their last two games.
The junior midfielder leads the team in goals (27), assists (14) and points (41). She is currently ranked second in the Patriot League in both goals and total points this season, and is tied for second in the league in assists. In addition, Sutton currently stands 11th all-time in Patriot League history with 182 career points.
Holy Cross is on a three-game winning streak and has won four of its last five games. The Crusaders currently sit atop the Patriot League standings with an 8-3 overall record and a 4-0 mark in league play this season. The team is back in action on Wednesday, April 5, when it travels to New Haven, Conn., for a 3:00 PM non-conference tilt with Yale.
