Worcester, Mass. - Sophomore Patricia Sutton and freshman Amy Archambault were honored by the Patriot League for their efforts in leading the Holy Cross women's lacrosse team to a 2-0 week last week.
Sutton, the 2004 Patriot League Rookie of the Year earned her first Player of the Week award of the season after scoring six goals in a two game span. Sutton scored three goals last Tuesday at Wagner to help propel the Crusaders to their second win of the season, with an 11-5 decision. Sutton then came out on Sunday and tallied three more goals in a 14-6 drubbing of Villanova in HC's first league game of the year.
Sutton has now scored three goals in three consecutive games and leads the team in goals (15) and points (15). She also had a hat trick against Brown in the Crusaders' 6-5 win over the Bears last Saturday.
Archambault earned her first career conference award as Rookie of the Week for her four-point performance over league opponent Villanova on Sunday. Archambault came off the bench to ignite the Crusaders to an eight-goal win over the Wildcats. Archambault not only recorded her first collegiate goal and assist, but she finished the afternoon with three goals and four total points.
The Crusaders put their three-game winning streak on the line when they travel to Bucknell for a 12:00 p.m. match-up with the Bison on Sunday, March 20.
