WORCESTER, Mass. - Holy Cross junior Katie Gardner (Garden City, N.Y.) has been named the Patriot League Women's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week. She scored four goals and had two assists for six points in two games.
In the game against New Hampshire on Feb. 25, she recorded one goal and one assist for two points, while in the 10-9 double overtime victory at Vermont on Feb. 28, she scored three goals including the game-winner in overtime. The overtime goal was her first collegiate game-winning goal and her three goals tied a career best. She also added one assist in the game for a total of four points.
For the year, she has recorded at least two points in each of the first four games. Her 1.50 assists per game are third in the Patriot League. Gardner's six assists lead the team and her 11 points are second. She has recorded at least one point in 16 straight games. The streak started on March 8, 2008. For her career, she has 28 goals and 18 assists for 46 points in 38 games.
The Crusaders (2-2) return to action when they play at UMBC on March. 6, at 4:00 p.m.
