Holy Cross Picked Fifth In Patriot League Preseason Poll

WORCESTER, Mass. - The Holy Cross women's lacrosse team has been picked fifth in the 2009 Patriot League preseason poll as voted on by head coaches and sports information directors from around the league. Colgate was picked to finish first as it earned 11 first place votes and 71 total points. Navy was selected to finish second as it had three first place votes and 53 total points. Lehigh (52 total points) was picked to finish third, followed by American (50 total points), Holy Cross (33 total points), Bucknell (19 total points) and Lafayette (16 total points). Navy's Erin Rawlick was named the league's Preseason Offensive Player of the Year, while Colgate's Molly Carroll was named the Preseason Defensive Player of the Year.

The Crusaders kick off the 2009 season when they host UMass at the Hart Turf Field, on Tuesday, Feb. 17 at 3:00 p.m. Holy Cross returns 23 letterwinners including seven starters to a team that is looking to win its third Patriot League championship in the last four years.
