ALBANY, N.Y. - Senior Patricia Sutton (Saratoga Spring, N.Y.), freshman Megan Fenton (Bridgewater, N.J.) and junior Kaitlin Nangle (Skaneateles, N.Y.) each scored four goals and combined for five assists to lead the Holy Cross women's lacrosse team past Siena, 19-13, Wednesday night in non-conference action at the University of Albany. The Crusaders improve to 5-2 on the season while the Saints fall to 1-5 overall.
Kristine Corkum (Ipswich, Mass.) scored two goals and had two caused turnovers in the 19-13 win over Siena. Nikki Bolduc (Exeter, N.H.), Amy Archambault (West Hartford, Conn.), Sheila Rom (Raleigh, N.C.), Kelly Casey (Newton, Pa.) and Kaitlyn Curley (New York City, N.Y.) each added one goal while Kelly Winslow (Wrentham, Mass.), Cally Benoit (Concord, N.H.) and Ali Baird (Wilbraham, Mass.) handed out assists.
Holy Cross took a 6-1 lead in the first 12 minutes of the game after Sutton and Fenton scored two and served out an assist each and Archambault and Corkum added one goal with Winslow assisting Archambault's goal. The two teams exchanged the next seven goals before Nangle scored in the last second of the first half to allow the Crusaders to go into the break with a seven point advantage (11-4).
Siena scored the first two goals of the second half before Holy Cross scored the next four. The Saints scored seven goals to the Crusaders four in the last 18 minutes of the game, but because of its first half advantage, Holy Cross was able to hold on for the win.
Goalkeeper Megan Orr (Wilton Conn.) recorded the win for the Crusaders with four stops on 26 shots while picking up five groundballs.
The Crusaders begin conference play Saturday as they face Lafayette at 12:00 p.m.
