Sophia Agostinelli Named Patriot League Defensive Player Of The Week
WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross junior Sophia Agostinelli (Framingham, Mass.) has been named the Patriot League Women's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week as announced by the league office. She posted six ground balls and eight caused turnovers as the Crusaders went 1-1 on the week. This is Agostinelli's first Patriot League weekly honor.
Agostinelli was outstanding in the 9-6 loss to Brown on March 11 as she tied a Patriot League single-game record set by Navy's Caitlin Mandrin Hill in 2009 with six caused turnovers. She also tallied four ground balls versus the Bears. Agostinelli also posted two ground balls and two caused turnovers as the Crusaders defeated Patriot League opponent American, 9-7, to improve to 2-0 in the Patriot League for the first time since 2007.
The Crusaders (4-5, 2-0 PL) return to action on Wednesday, March 19, when they travel to Patriot League opponent Boston University (1-5, 1-0 PL) for a 6:00 p.m. game.
