WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross women's lacrosse senior captain Kat Sutton (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) has been named to the Patriot League All-Academic team. This is the first time that Sutton has earned this honor.
Sutton, who is a Sociology major, has 31 goals and three assists for 34 points and has started in all 17 games this season. She leads the team with 13 free-position goals as her 0.76 free-position goals per game are second in the Patriot League. Sutton has played in 67 career games as she has 122 goals and 22 assists for 144 points. Her 122 goals are tied for fourth all-time in program history and her 144 points are tied for eighth. Also her 102 career draw controls are sixth all-time. She earned second team All-Patriot League honors in 2010 and 2011. Sutton is a two-year captain and was a member of the Holy Cross Leadership Academy. She has been named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll twice.
To be eligible for the All-Academic team the student-athlete has to have at least a 3.20 total grade point average and be a starter or a key player in his/her sport. Freshmen or students in their first academic year at their school are not eligible for the honor.
The Crusaders (8-9 overall, 3-3 PL) are the No. 3 seed in the Patriot League Tournament and will play No. 2 seed American (8-9 overall, 5-1 PL) in the semifinals on Friday, April 26, in Annapolis, Md., at 7:45 p.m. No. 1 seed Navy (16-1 overall, 6-0 PL) will meet No. 4 seed Lafayette (9-8 overall, 3-3 PL) at 5:00 p.m. Go here to watch the games: http://www.patriotleague.org/allaccess/.
