WORCESTER, Mass. - Freshman midfielder Laura Ryan (Stirling, N.J.) has been named the AT&T Crusader of the Week, for competition from March 26-April 1. Ryan helped lead the Holy Cross women's lacrosse team to a 1-1 record in two games last week.
During Monday's 12-9 victory over California-Davis, Ryan totaled three goals and two draw controls. All three times she found the net against the Aggies came late in the first half, during a stretch where the Crusaders scored six straight goals to build a 7-2 halftime lead. Then in Saturday's 18-11 loss at Navy, Ryan led the team with five goals, one assist, three draw controls and two caused turnovers. She set a new career-high with six points against the Mids, while tying her career-high of five goals scored.
On the season, Ryan ranks second on the team in scoring with 30 points on 25 goals and five assists. She has also totaled a team-best 43 draw controls, 18 ground balls and nine caused turnovers.
Holy Cross (5-6 overall, 1-2 Patriot League) returns to action on Saturday, April 7, when it plays host to Bucknell at 12:00 p.m.
