Women's Lacrosse Picked Fifth In Patriot League Preseason Poll
WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross women's lacrosse team has been picked to finish fifth in the 2012 Patriot League preseason poll as voted on by head coaches and sports information directors from around the league. Navy was picked to finish first as it earned 12 first-place votes and 72 total points. Colgate was second with 61 total points and two first-place votes, while Lehigh was third with 53 points. American was picked to finish fourth (41 total points), followed by Holy Cross (28 total points), Lafayette (27 total points) and Bucknell (12 total points). Navy's Jasmine DePompeo was named the league's Preseason Offensive Player of the Year and Lehigh's Leigh Ann Torcivia earned Preseason Defensive Player of the Year honors.
The Crusaders kick off the 2012 season when they play at UMass on Wednesday, Feb. 15 at 3:30 p.m. Holy Cross returns 18 letterwinners including seven of 12 starters as the Crusaders will be looking to win its third Patriot League championship. Last season the Crusaders went 6-11 overall and 3-3 in the Patriot League.
