LEWISBURG, Pa. – Sophomore Maddie Carrellas (Middletown, R.I.) scored a game-high three goals to lead the Holy Cross women's lacrosse team to a 14-7 victory over Bucknell in Patriot League action at Graham Field. With the win, the Crusaders improve to 5-9 overall (2-2 Patriot League), while the Bison fall to 2-11 overall (0-5 Patriot League).
Junior Kat Sutton (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) added two goals and two assists for Holy Cross, including the 100th point of her collegiate career. She has now totaled 86 goals and 17 assists for 103 career points, and scored at least one goal for the 43rd consecutive game. In addition, junior Kayla DiBari (Holderness, N.H.), senior Meg O'Leary (Longmeadow, Mass.) and sophomore Taylor Zebrowski (Verona, N.J.) each added two goals and one assist.
After DiBari scored the first goal of the game, Bucknell came back to net the next four goals to claim a 4-1 lead. The Crusaders responded by scoring four of the next five goals, to tie the game at 5-5 heading into halftime. Zebrowski then netted the first two goals of the second half, as part of a run which would eventually see Holy Cross taking a 13-5 advantage with 8:53 to play. From the 6:20 mark of the first half until 8:53 remained in the second half, the Crusaders scored 10 straight goals to turn a 5-3 deficit into a 13-5 lead.
Senior Amy Martin (Bloomfield, Mich.) played well in goal for Holy Cross, allowing just seven goals while making seven saves.
Bucknell was led by Ali Carey with two goals and two assists, while Madison Hurwitz and Julia Braun each tallied two goals and one assist.
The Crusaders return to action on Wednesday, April 13, with a game on Holy Cross Field against Harvard at 7:00 p.m.
