Crusaders To Play At UNH & Yale This Week

- The Holy Cross women's lacrosse team will continue its stretch of five games away from Worcester to start the season with a game at New Hampshire on Feb. 24 and a contest at Yale on Feb. 27. Holy Cross will then travel to Denver to play a neutral site contest versus Mount St. Mary's on March 3, while it will play Denver on March 6. Both games will be played at Denver's Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium. Holy Cross' first game at the new Holy Cross Field will be on March 13 versus Vermont.
- In last week's season-opener at UMass, freshmen Maddie Carrellas (Middletown, R.I.) and Taylor Zebrowski (Verona, N.J.) each recorded their first collegiate points as Carrellas had two assists and Zebrowski had one assist. This was the fourth straight Holy Cross season-opener that had at least one freshman recording a point with all of the games versus UMass. In 2009 current sophomore Kat Sutton (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) earned her first collegiate assist, in 2008 current junior Meg O'Leary (Longmeadow, Mass.) posted two goals and one assist for three points, while in 2007 current senior Megan Fenton (Bridgewater, N.J.) recorded an assist.
- The game on Feb. 24 is the season-opener for New Hampshire. Last season, the Wildcats defeated Holy Cross by a 19-4 score at the Hart Turf Field on Feb. 25. Senior Ali Baird (Wilbraham, Mass.) scored two goals for Holy Cross, while O'Leary recorded one goal and two assists for three points and junior Katie Gardner (Garden City, N.Y.) had one goal and one assist. Michael Daly is in his first season as the head coach of the Wildcats. Last year, UNH went 12-7 overall and lost to Boston University in the America East Tournament championship game.
- This will also be the season-opener for Yale as last season the Bulldogs went 5-11 overall. The Crusaders fell to Yale by a score of 15-7 last season at the Hart Turf Field on April 1. Holy Cross was led by O'Leary who scored three goals. Sutton recorded two goals, while Calley Benoit had one goal and one assist for two points, and Baird scored one goal. Gardner and junior Annie Boylan (Andover, Mass.) each had one assist.
