Crusaders Picked Fifth In Patriot League Preseason Poll

WORCESTER, Mass. - The Holy Cross women's lacrosse team has been picked fifth in the 2010 Patriot League preseason poll as voted on by head coaches and sports information directors from around the league. Colgate was picked to finish first as it earned seven first-place votes and 66 total points. Lehigh and Navy tied for second with 59 total points as the Mountain Hawks received four first-place votes and the Midshipmen had three first-place votes. Bucknell was picked to finish fourth (40 total points), followed by Holy Cross (30 total points), American (28 total points) and Lafayette (12 total points). Lehigh's Lauren Dykstra was named the league's Preseason Offensive Player of the Year, while Navy's Caitlin Mandrin Hill was named the Preseason Defensive Player of the Year.

The Crusaders kick off the 2010 season when they play at UMass on Wednesday, Feb. 17 at 3:00 p.m. Holy Cross returns 21 letterwinners including nine starters as Holy Cross will be looking to win its third Patriot League championship in the last five years.
