Women's Lacrosse Introduces 2009-2010 Freshman Class

WORCESTER, Mass.­ - The Holy Cross women's lacrosse program welcomes freshmen Maddie Carrellas (Middletown, R.I.), Sara Cox (Chatham, N.J.), Sarah Daly (Ridgewood, N.J.), Tina Marino (Hillsborough, N.J.) and Taylor Zebrowski (Verona, N.J.) to the program.

Here is a look at the 2009-2010 freshman class.

Carrellas was a four-year member and senior captain of the varsity lacrosse team at St. George's H.S. for coach Lucy Hamilton. She earned 2009 All-American, 2009 Academic All-American and 2009 first team All-ISL accolades. She also played for the Rhode Island Metacomets club lacrosse team for coach Matt Nunes as the team won the 2008 Champions Cup.

Cox was a three-year member and senior captain of the varsity lacrosse team at Chatham H.S. for coach Deb Marriott. She was a 2008 and 2009 US Lacrosse Academic All-American, while she also earned 2009 first team All-Daily Record, 2009 first team All-Morris County and 2009 first team All-Iron Hills Conference honors. Her team won the 2008 Group 1 New Jersey State championship and was the Tournament of Champions runner-up.

Daly was a three-year member and senior captain of the varsity lacrosse team at Ridgewood H.S. for coach Karla Mixon. She earned 2008 and 2009 second team All-NJGLL Stars Division honors, while she earned 2009 All-North Jersey accolades. Daly set school single-season records with 50 ground balls (2009), 32 forced turnovers (2009) and 40 draw controls (2008). She received the Ridgewood Lacrosse Association's scholarship which is awarded to the outstanding senior player both on and off the field. Daly was also on the STEPS Elite club lacrosse team.

Marino was a three-year member and senior captain of the varsity lacrosse team at Hillsborough H.S. for coach Beth Murrin. For her career she recorded 59 goals, 18 assists, 77 points, 111 groundballs and 79 draw controls. She earned 2008 second team All-Skyland Conference accolades. She was also a member of the Tri-State Lacrosse club team for coach Meredith Elwell and earned 2007 first team All-Galaxy Conference honors.

Zebrowski was a four-year member and senior captain of the varsity lacrosse team at Verona H.S. for coach Suzanne Abell Giarrusso. She had a school-record 260 career goals, while she also had 80 assists for 340 points. Zebrowski was a top 20 scorer in the state as a junior and senior as she had 90 goals and 27 assists for 117 points as a junior, while she posted 83 goals and 17 assists for 100 points as a senior. She earned Under Armour All-American Underclassmen and Academic All-American honors, while she was named first team All-County twice and first team All-Conference three times. Zebrowski also played for the Metro Magic Lacrosse Club for coach Bonnie Conklin Sullivan.
