Worcester, Mass. - Freshman Erica van DeGraff (Guelph, Ont. Canada) was named the ECAC East Rookie of the Week on Tuesday. Van DeGraff had one goal on the week, moving her total number of goals to five on the season. Against Wesleyan, van DeGraff got the Crusaders on the board with an unassisted goal 3:58 into the contest to give Holy Cross an early 1-0 edge. The Crusaders would go onto win 6-2.
Van DeGraff has a total of 11 points on the season, compiled five goals and six assists. She is currently the third highest scorer for the Crusaders and is tied for second highest with her number of assists. Van DeGraff had a career high of three points against Salve Regina, which was the Crusaders first game of the season. Her points were from two goals and one assist in the 10-2 Holy Cross victory.
The Crusaders are 6-3-0 overall this season and 4-3-0 in the ECAC East. They are currently ranked fifth in the ECAC East. Saint Anslem is in the top spot with a perfect 9-0-0 record in the conference and 10-0-0 overall.
The Holy Cross women's ice hockey team returns to action on Friday, January 5. The Crusaders travel to take on conference opponent Southern Maine in Portland, Maine. The puck will drop at 7:00 pm.
