Worcester, Mass. - The ECAC women's division III east league has named Junior forward Stephanie Couzin (Chicago, Ill.) the player of the week. Couzin led the Crusaders to a 5-3 win over Sacred Heart Sunday, November 11th with two of the five goals being hers.
In the first period, at 13:41, Couzin would make a steal from the Pioneers' zone on a breakaway to put the puck in the net. With three seconds left to the end of the second period she put in another goal tying up the game again on a breakaway run. In the third period Couzin would give teammate junior forward Sam Murphy (Canton, Mass.) an assist that would be put in the net for the game-winning goal. The Crusaders won Sunday's game 5-3 over the Pioneers'.
In Friday's game Couzin would compete hard again when she gave an assist to teammate senior forward Sam Rush (Wakefield, Mass.) to put in the first and only goal of the game. Holy Cross would tie Sacred Heart 1-1.
This season Couzin leads the team in scoring with four points on two goals and two assists. In her two years of playing at Holy Cross she has totaled 26 goals and 20 assists for 46 points.
The Crusaders compete again Friday, November 16th at St. Anselm for a 7:00p.m. game.
