Nov. 7, 2005

WORCESTER, Mass. - Senior Sarah Wetherbee (Canton, Mass.) has been named the Holiday Inn Express Crusader of the Week, for competition from October 31-November 6. Wetherbee totaled two goals and two assists last week, as the Holy Cross women's ice hockey team won its opening two games of the 2005-2006 season.

In Friday's season-opening 3-2 win at Castleton State, Wetherbee scored a goal at the 17:17 mark of the first period, putting the Crusaders in the lead for good at 2-1. With that goal, Wetherbee became Holy Cross' all-time leader in career points scored, moving past Meghan Mahoney (106 points, 2001-2005).

Following that performance against Castleton State, Wetherbee came back with a goal and two assists in Saturday's 6-0 shutout victory at St. Michael's. She scored the Crusaders' fourth goal at the 7:57 mark of the second period, in addition to assisting on a pair of goals by Kolt Bloxson in the opening period.

Over the course of her career at Holy Cross, Wetherbee has now totaled 110 points on 55 goals and 55 assists.

Holy Cross (2-0 overall) returns to the ice this Saturday, Nov. 12, when it plays host to New England College in its home opener at the Hart Center. The opening face-off is set for 2:00 p.m.
