WORCESTER, Mass. - Junior forward Sarah Wetherbee (Canton, Mass.) has been named the Holiday Inn Express Crusader of the Week, for competition from February 21-27. Wetherbee scored four goals last week, while leading Holy Cross women's ice hockey team to a second place finish in the ECAC Open Tournament.
On Saturday, Wetherbee scored the fourth hat trick of her collegiate career, while leading the Crusaders to a 4-2 victory over Sacred Heart in the tournament semifinals. With Holy Cross trailing 1-0 in the second period, Wetherbee scored two straight goals to give the Crusaders a 2-1 lead. She then added a third goal in the final minute of play to ice the victory for Holy Cross.
In Sunday's championship game against St. Anselm, Wetherbee added another goal to give her four on the weekend. Her second period tally gave the Crusaders a 2-1 lead, before St. Anselm rallied for the victory.
Overall this season, Wetherbee led Holy Cross in scoring with 25 points on 15 goals and 10 assists. Over the course of her career, she has totaled 106 points on 53 goals and 53 assists.
The Crusaders finished the 2004-2005 campaign with an overall record of 12-14-1, and a 9-9-1 mark in ECAC East action.
