WORCESTER, Mass. - Holy Cross freshman forward Stacey Hochkins (New Boston, Mich.) has been named the ECAC East Player of the Week for her performance the week of Jan. 12-18. This is Hochkins' first Player of the Week award. Hochkins has received the ECAC East Rookie of the Week honor three times (Nov. 11, Dec. 16 and Jan. 13).
On Friday, Jan. 16 against ECAC East opponent UMass-Boston, Hochkins scored her 13th and 14th goals of the season. Hochkins scored her first goal of the evening in the first period to give the Crusaders the 2-1 advantage. Hochkins then scored again in the third period to put Holy Cross up, 4-2, on way to the 6-2 win.
On Saturday, Jan. 17 against ECAC East opponent Salve Regina, Hochkins recorded her second hat trick of the season. Hochkins broke the 1-1 tie at the 18:05 mark in the first period when she scored her 15th goal of the season. Hochkins then scored two goals in the second period to put Holy Cross up, 4-1. The Crusaders defeated Salve Regina, 4-2, and extended their unbeaten streak to 15 games.
Hochkins leads the ECAC East in overall points per game with 2.12 and is the leading rookie scorer. Hochkins also leads the ECAC in goals scored with 17, short-handed points with five, short-handed goals with three and is tied for second in power play points with nine.
The Crusaders, now 15-0-1 overall after defeating Trinity on Tuesday, Jan. 20, look to remain unbeaten when they travel to ECAC East opponent No. 10 Manhattanville on Friday, Jan. 23 for a 7:00 p.m. face off.
