Worcester, Mass. - Women's ice hockey player, junior Sam Rush (Wakefield, Mass.) was named ECAC East Player of the Week Wednesday morning. Her efforts in the week of January 8-14 aided the Crusaders to a win over conference rival UMass Boston and a tie against Colby. Rush totaled four points on the week, scoring three goals and assisting on another.
On Tuesday, January 9, Rush tallied the first Crusader goal of the game in a 5-5 tie Colby. Rush scored two goals against UMass Boston, including the game winner with 3:23 left in the contest. She also added an assist in the 7-5 Holy Cross win over the Beacons.
Rush is currently ranked second on the team with 10 goals and leads the team with 12 assists. Against MIT on November 10, Rush registered the first Crusader hat trick of the season, scoring three goals and adding an assist to the Holy Cross offense, who overpowered the Engineers 6-0. On November 13, Rush was named Holiday Inn Express Crusader of the Week for her efforts against MIT.
