WORCESTER, Mass. - Sophomore forward Stephanie Couzin (Chicago, Ill.) has been named the Holiday Inn Express Crusader of the Week, for competition from January 1-7. Last week, Couzin totaled two goals and an assist, while leading the Holy Cross women's ice hockey team to a 5-3 victory at Southern Maine in its only game.
During the win over Southern Maine, Couzin opened the scoring with a power play goal at the 3:57-mark of the first period. During the second period, she then had an assist on a goal by freshman defenseman Katelyn Doherty (Toronto, Ontario), which tied the score at 2-2. Later in the game, with the score tied at 3-3 in the third period, Couzin scored the game-winning goal at the 11:17-mark, lifting Holy Cross to victory.
In 10 games played this season, Couzin now leads the team in scoring with 12 goals and six assists for 18 points.
The Crusaders (7-3 overall, 5-3 ECAC East) return to action on Tuesday, Jan. 9, when they travel to Colby for a 7:00 p.m. game.
