Worcester, Mass. - Freshman Jackie Fraser (Fergus, Ont.) posted a hat trick to propel the Tigers over Crusaders, 5-0, Sunday afternoon at the Hart Center.
Halfway through the first period freshman Sarah Wilson (Stoney Creek, Ont.) scored a power play goal from between the face off circles to put RIT on the board with the help from junior Nicole Gedney (Maple Grove, Minn.) and Fraser. Minutes later the Tigers struck again with an unassisted goal by Fraser from inside the blue line, putting RIT up by two.
Senior Kendra Bredlau (Pleasanton, Calif.) found the back of the net with help from senior Alysia Park (Dallas, Texas) at 11:37 into the second period, increasing the Tigers' margin by three.
In all the two teams combined for 29 power play opportunities, but RIT would be the only squad to net any power play goals. At 16:27 in the second, Fraser used the man-up opportunity to put the score at 4-0, Tigers. Sophomore Stacy McConnell (Millgrove, Ont.) and senior Chelsea Johnson (Yarmouth, Maine) were credited with the assists.
At 12:05 into the third Fraser fired her third goal of the game, unassisted, for the final score of 5-0, RIT.
Freshman Breanna Dobbe (Poway, Calif.) stopped all 16 shots on goal for the Tigers for the win, while sophomore Cassey McCullion (Philadelphia, Pa.) made 22 saves.
The Crusaders return to the Hart Center on Wednesday, Nov. 17 at 7 p.m. to take on Sacred Heart.
