Middletown, Conn. - The Holy Cross women's hockey team was defeated by Wesleyan, 3-2, Tuesday night.
The Crusaders jumped on the board early in the first period when sophomore Cathryn O'Conner (Milton, Mass.) netted her second goal of the season at 1:55 with assists by freshman Parnell Ormiston (Duxbury, Mass.) and sophomore Christine O'Hara (Burnsville, Minn.).
Amanda Nickels would score a power play goal minutes later for the Cardinals at 5:42 , tying the game at one-all.
Wesleyan fired two more goals in the second period, to put the score at 3-1. Anna Siliciano found the back of the net at 6:05 for the first time this season off of Adrienne Shea and Ashley Williams. Jessica Fischer would net the game-winner at 11:46 with help from Fisher and Meghan Frederico.
Senior co-captain Molly Cokery (Salisbury, Conn.) scored her first puck of the season, a power play goal, at 14:47 in the third period, bringing the Crusaders within one of tying Wesleyan.
Sophomore Cassey McCullion (Philadelphia, Pa.) made 28 saves for the Crusaders, while Wesleyan's Meredith Katz halted 32 shots on goal for the win.
Holy Cross returns to action next Tuesday, Nov. 30, against Connecticut College at the Hart Center at 7 p.m.
