Middletown, R.I. - Sophomore Lisa Wilson (Corunna, Ontario) scored two of the Crusaders' three goals, including the game-winner in the third period, as Holy Cross defeated Salve Regina 3-2. Junior Stephanie Couzin (Chicago, Ill.) also scored for the Crusaders, who improve to 5-2-1 on the year (3-1-0 ECAC).
Holy Cross jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period. The first goal was scored by Couzin when she put the puck in the net at 5:08 with assists from Wilson and senior Sam Rush (Wakefield, Mass.). Wilson scored the next goal at 16:13 with an assist by Couzin. Holy Cross had 10 shots on goal in the first period while Salve Regina had four.
The second period was scoreless, with each team taking 11 shots on the net.
Salve Regina cut the lead to one goal as Gabrielle Gardner scored at 11:57 and then tied the game at 2-2 on a score from Caitlin Campbell at 17:26. With the game tied 2-2 Wilson scored the game winner for HC at the 18:54 mark, getting an assist from freshman Christina D'Ambrogio (Toronto, Ontario). Holy Cross had 11 shots on goal for the period while Salve Regina had 10.
Freshman Lindsay Atkinson (Westbank, British Columbia) was in goal tonight as she made 23 saves on 25 shots. Her record is now 2-0-0. Michelle Chabot and Tamsin Gosselin of Salve Regina would have a combined 29 saves on 32 attempts.
The Crusaders return to action on December 5th when they take on Wesleyan at home for a 7:00 p.m. start.
