Manchester, N.H. - The Holy Cross women's ice hockey saw their four-game win streak broken with a 2-0 loss to St. Anslem's Friday night in Manchester, New Hampshire. The Crusaders held the current top team in the ECAC East scoreless for the first 19:35 of the game, but Bianca DeSantis put the puck in the net, giving the Hawks a 1-0 lead that Holy Cross would never recover from. St. Anslem moves to 8-0-0 overall on the season and remains undefeated in the ECAC East at 8-0-0. The Crusaders drop to 5-2-0 overall and 4-2-0 in the ECAC East.
There would be no goal scoring in the second period sophomore goalkeeper Jennifer Van Dongen (Calgary, Alb. Canada) would face and stop 19 shots in the second 20 minutes of play. The Hawk's Cindy Lebel would give her team the go-ahead goal with 9:49 remaining in the game.
Van Dongen had 45 saves over 60:00 in net, dropping to a 2-1-0 record this season. St. Anslem's Jen Taylor stopped 11 shots made by the Crusaders.
The Holy Cross women's ice hockey team will face New England College in Henniker tomorrow afternoon. Game time is set for 3:00 pm.
