Boston, Mass. - Freshman Jocelyn Kratchmer (Watrous, Saskatchewan) led the team tonight scoring two of the five goals made by the Crusaders in a 5-1 victory over UMass. Boston. Sophomore Wendy Nobrega (Barrington, R.I.), senior Sam Rush (Wakefield, Mass.) and Freshman Emily Henry (Lumsden, Saskatchewan) would all contribute with a goal each in tonight's game in Boston, Mass.
In the first period Nobrega would get an assist by sophomore Katelyn Doherty (Toronto, Ontario) and senior Katie Falkowski (East Sandwich, Mass.) for the first goal of the night scored at 9:47. UMass Boston would take seven shots and come up with no goals.
In the second period Kratchmer came alive with an assist from sophomore Lisa Wilson (Corunna, Ontario) the puck was put into the net at 1:31. Within the next four minutes Kratchmer would score her second goal at 5:04 unassisted. Rush increased the Crusaders lead with a goal at 13:38 assisted by junior Stephanie Couzin (Chicago, Ill.) and Kratchmer. Rose Devlin of UMass Boston would put in the last goal of the period as well as the only goal for them at 18:44.
Henry would have the only goal of the third period at 2:10 to finish off the game 5-1. UMass Boston would have 17 attempts with no avail.
Freshman Monique Gallant (Antigonish, Nova Scotia) made 41 saves to improve to 2-1-1 on the season. Aly Garnet stopped 26 shots for UMass Boston. Holy Cross had 31 shots and went 2-6 on the power play, while UMass Boston had 42 shots and went 1-11.
The Crusaders return to action on Tuesday, November 20th when they host Plymouth State home at 7:00 p.m.
