Women's Hockey Ties Sacred Heart, 1-1, In Season Opener

Bridgeport, Conn.- The Holy Cross women's ice hockey team tied Sacred Heart, 1-1, on Friday night in the Crusaders' season-opener. With the tie, Holy Cross opens the season 0-0-1 overall, while the Pioneers are now 2-5-1 overall.

In the first period, senior Sam Rush (Wakefield, Mass.) scored the fist goal of the game at 13:46 into the period. Freshman Jocelyn Kratchmer (Watrous, Saskatchewan) brought the puck up and dished it to Rush who knocked it into the net.

Freshman Brittany Hartman of Sacred Heart would answer back nine minutes into the second period with a goal against the Crusaders. The game would remain tied for the 1-1 final score.

Freshman Monique Gallant started out her freshman year strong with 32 saves for the Crusaders.

These two teams will meet each other again on Sunday, November 11th when Holy Cross host Pioneers at the Hart Center at 2:00 p.m.
