Holy Cross Escapes Shutout

Purchase, N.Y. - With 33 seconds remaining in the game the Crusaders netted their only goal of the game to escape a shutout by Manhattanville, 3-1, Sunday afternoon.

Freshman Casey Harvel (Lexington, Mass.) used Holy Cross' last power play of the game to score her fourth goal of the season at 19:27 in the third with help from Melissa Flanagan (Manchester Ctr., Vt.).

Both teams skated to a scoreless first period before Manhattanville erupted for two goals in the second. Jennifer Mulick posted her 21st tally of the season at 12:08 to put the Valiants on the board. Minutes later, Amanda Nonis increased Manhattanville's lead by two at 14:24.

Midway through the third, the Valiants posted their final goal of the game when Jessica Zimmerman scored her 18 marker of the season.

Sophomore Casey McCullion (Philadelphia, Pa.) stopped a whopping 40 saves on Sunday for a combined 81 saves over the weekend. Nicole Elliot made 28 saves for the win.

The Crusaders travel to Manchester, N.H. next weekend, Saturday-Sunday, Feb. 26-27 to play in the ECAC Women's Tournament. Also participating will be host Saint Anselm, Sacred Heart and Saint Michael's.
