NEC Edges Out Holy Cross

Henniker, N.H. - The Crusaders were unable to hold off a 1-0 lead as New England College posted two third period goals to defeat Holy Cross, 2-1, Sunday afternoon in an ECAC East contest.

The Crusaders struck early in the first when freshman Casey Harvel (Lexington, Mass.) netted her third tally of the season with help from Kolt Bloxson (Fitchburg, Mass.) and Sarah Wetherbee (Canton, Mass.) at 4:08 in the period.

The Pilgrims evened the score when Mallory Berman found the back of the net at 1:45 in the third. NEC took the lead at 7:53 when Ashley Watkins netted the game-winner with her eighth goal of the season.

Sophomore Casey McCullion (Philadelphia, Pa.) made 28 saves, as Jacquelyn Parker halted 44 shots on goal for the victory.

With the loss Holy Cross falls to 11-11-1 overall and 9-7-1 in ECAC East to sit at fourth in league standings.

The Crusaders wrap up the regular season Saturday-Sunday, Feb. 19-20 at Manhattanville.
