Crusaders, Pilgrims Skate To 3-3 Overtime Tie

Henniker, N.H. - Freshman Samantha Murphy (Canton, Mass.) posted a goal and added two helpers as the Holy Cross women's hockey team rallied with two goals in the third period to draw a 3-3 overtime tie with New England College, Saturday afternoon.

Senior tri-captain Meghan Mahoney (Utica, N.Y.) cut the Pilgrims lead in half when she found the back of the net at 15:09 in the second with help from senior tri-captain Molly Corkery (Salisbury, Conn.) and Murphy.

NEC took a 3-1 lead early in the third when Marissa Porri scored her 10th goal of season.

Midway through the third stanza Corkery found the back of the net at 12:34. Murphy assisted on the play. Less than three minutes later Murphy netted her third tally of the season, unassisted to send the game into the extra period at 15:07 in the period.

The Pilgrims jumped on the board first when Elizabeth Ross scored at 11:28 in the first period. Ross increased NEC's margin by two when she netted her seventh marker of the season at 5:20 in the scond.

Sophomore Casey McCullion (Philadelphia, Pa.) made 44 saves for her first tie this season, while Jacquelyn Parker halted 43 shots on goal NEC.

The Crusaders return to Henniker, N.H. on Sunday, Feb. 13 to take on the Pilgrims at noon.
