HC Women's Ice Hockey Ties Salve Regina 3-3

Worcester, Mass. - The Crusader women's ice hockey team hosted Salve Regina in this afternoons conference match up. The Crusaders finished the game with a 3-3 tie with the Seahawks to have a 12-7-2 (10-4-1 ECAC) record while Salve Regina is at 6-12-1, (5-8-1 ECAC).

In the first period, senior Sam Rush (Wakefield, Mass.) scored the first goal of the game at 10:31 with an assist by freshman Jocelyn Kratchmer (Watrous, Saskatchewan). The Salve Regina Seahawks answered back with a goal of there own at 18:06. Holy Cross took eight shots on goal, while the Salve Regina took 4.

At 5:09 into the second period freshman Colleen Krmpotich (Minneapolis, Minn.) put the puck in the net with an assist from freshman Christina D'Ambrogio (Toronto, Ontario). The Seahawks answered back with a goal made at 6:01 to tie the game 2-2. Holy Cross took three shots on goal while Salve Regina took five.

In the third period the Seahawks scored at 10:44 to give them the 3-2 lead. D'Ambrogio answered back with a goal of her own at 17:00 from an assist by sophomore Kathryn Kelley (Dedham, Mass.) to tie the game back up 3-3. Holy Cross had ten shots on goal while Salve Regina had two.

Neither team scored in over-time. Holy Cross took three shots on goal while Salve Regina took two.

In goal tonight for the Crusaders was freshman Monique Gallant (Antigonish, Nova Scotia) making 10 saves for the game. Tamsin Gosselin had 21 saves for Salve Regina.

The Crusaders play again Friday, February 15 at the Hart Center against Norwich. Start time is set for 7:00 p.m.
