Gorham, Maine- The Crusaders traveled to Southern Maine U. for tonight's conference match up. With a score of 0-0 at the end of the third period both teams went into overtime and freshman forward Christina D'Ambrogio (Toronto, Ontario) put in the game-winning goal for the 1-0 win over Southern Maine. The Crusaders improve their record to 10-7-1 overall (8-4-0 ECAC) while the Huskies fall to 4-13-1 overall (4-7-1 ECAC).
No goals were scored in the 60 minutes of regular play. In the first period Holy Cross took 11 shots on goal while Southern Maine took five. During the second period the Crusaders took five shots on the Huskies, the Huskies had six. The final period Holy Cross had 10 attempts on goal and Southern Maine took one.
In over-time D'Ambrogio received an assist from sophomore Kathryn Kelley (Dedham, Mass.) for the game-winning goal scored at 1:29.
In goal tonight was freshman Monique Gallant (Antigonish, Nova Scotia) making 12 saves to improve her record to 7-5-1. For the Huskies Emily Barrett had 27 saves falling to 2-8-1.
The Crusaders play again Feb. 2 at New England College. Start time is set for 1:00 p.m.
