Worcester, Mass. - Senior tri-captain Molly Corkery (Salisbury, Conn.) netted the game-winning goal and added an assist to lead the Crusaders over Wesleyan, 2-1, Tuesday night at the Hart Center in a non-conference game.
After trailing by one, freshman Parnell Ormiston (Duxbury, Mass.) evened the score at 12:38 in the second when she fired a shot from the top of the slot with help from Corkery and freshman Katherine Falkowski (East Sandwich, Mass.).
With 3:29 left in play, Corkery, positioned in front of the crease, squeezed the puck past Wesleyan netminder Meredith Katz (New Canaan, Conn.) to put the Crusaders up, 2-1. Freshmen Samantha Rush (Wakefield, Mass.) and Samantha Murphy (Canton, Mass.) assisted on the play.
The Cardinals jumped on the first at 12:06 in first when senior Anna Siliciano (Ithaca, N.Y.) scored from just outside the top of the left face-off circle after a breakaway. She was assisted by newcomer Julia Kazmers (Petoksey, Mich.).
Sophomore Casey McCullion (Philadelphia, Pa.) made 12 saves for the win, while Katz halted 18 shots on goal.
The Crusaders take on ECAC East rival Saint Anselm in their last home game of the season on Saturday, Feb. 5 at 3 p.m.
