Crusaders Defeated By Number Two Seed Manhattanville, 4-1

Rye, N.Y. - Holy Cross women's ice hockey team traveled to Rye, N.Y. to take on No. 2 seed Manhattanville in tonight's conference match. The Crusaders lost 4-1 falling to 9-6-1 (7-3-0 ECAC) while the Valiants improve to 11-4-0 (11-4-0 ECAC). Freshman Jocelyn Kratchmer (Watrous, Saskatchewan) scored the only Holy Cross goal of the night.

The Valiants came out strong with a 3-0 lead in the first period. Monique Rafferty scored the first goal at 3:28. At 6:23 Danielle Nagymarosi scored the game winning goal. Rafferty scored again at 19:59. Holy Cross had seven shots on goal while Manhattanville had 13.

The second period was scoreless by both teams. Holy Cross had three attempts on goal and Manhattanville had 14.

In the third period Holly Nonis of Manhattanville put in a goal in at 6:14 for a 4-0 lead. Kratchmer received an assist from sophomore Wendy Nobrega (Barrington, R.I.) for the only Holy Cross goal of the night at 8:38.

Freshman Monique Gallant (Antigonish, Nova Scotia) was in goal giving up four goals and making 27 saves. Manhattanville's Karine Turmel was in goal saving 18 shots made by the Crusaders.

Holy Cross will face off Manhattanville again January 27 at the Hart Center Rink. Start time is set for 3:00
