Troy, N.Y. - The Holy Cross women's hockey team was blanked by No. 9 Rensselaer, 6-0, Sunday afternoon in an ECAC East game.
The Crusaders held RPI scoreless for the first 18 minutes of the game, but was unable to stop the Engineers bombardment, and went on to score five more.
RPI was led by two players, Kari Rabatin, who netted the Engineers first and last goal and added a helper for a three-point night, and Bridget Rice, who posted four assists.
The Crusaders posted only eight shots on goal, while RPI notched 36. Sophomore netminder Casey McCullion (Philadelphia, Pa.) made 30 shots on goal for Holy Cross.
The Engineers scored three goals in the second period. Ciara Libaridian netted her first goal of the season at 4:53. Kelly Barbera followed with a power play goal less than four minutes later at 8:22. Jennifer Onksen put the RPI up by four at 13:59. She was assisted by Rice and Allison Malcom.
Sarah Daniel scored very early in the final stanza with help from Rice and Rabatin, who would close out the scoring with the final goal of the game at 12:42.
The Crusaders, who are now 7-8-0 overall and 6-5-0 in the ECAC, return to the Hart Center on Thursday, Jan. 20 when they host MIT at 7 p.m.
