WORCESTER, Mass. - Holy Cross women's ice hockey head coach Peter Van Buskirk has announced the 2013-2014 team awards and captains for the 2014-2015 season. Junior Nicole Giannino (Bay Shore, N.Y.) was named Most Valuable Player while senior Kylee Sullivan (Arlington, Mass.) earned the Seventh Player Award.
Giannino led the team last season with 12 goals and 14 assists for 26 points. She netted three game-winning goals and two power play goals. The junior finished the season tied for eighth in points in the ECAC Women's East and was also named ECAC Women's East Player of the Week once last season. Sullivan was tied for sixth on the team in scoring with nine goals and four assists for 13 points.
Rising senior Francesca Panarelli (Shrewsbury, Mass.) has been named captain for next season and fellow classmate Kate Reilly (Natick, Mass.) and rising junior Taylor McGee (Pearl River, N.Y.) will be assistant captains.
Panarelli, who served as one of three captains as a junior, scored one goal and added seven assists for eight points as a defenseman in 2013-2014. Reilly posted two goals and one assist for three points while McGee registered three goals and 10 helpers for 13 points.
