NEW LONDON, Conn. – The women's ice hockey team falls to Connecticut College 2-1 in overtime tonight from the Dayton Arena in non-conference action. The Crusaders slip to 6-4-0 while the Camels improve to 2-2-2.
Holy Cross Junior Meghan Sullivan (Brockton, Mass.) notched the first score of the game at 8:12 in the second period. It was Sullivan's first goal and point on the year. Nicole Giannino (Bay Shores, N.Y.) and Livvy Konaxis (Beverly, Mass.) assisted on the goal. Konaxis earned her second career assist and point on the season.
Minutes after Sullivan's goal senior Olivia Farrell got the Camels on the board to tie the game at 1-1. Leigh Getz and Ameila Dineen earned the assists on the goal.
Dinnen posted the game-winning goal with 1:47 into the overtime.
Goaltender Krista Manzanares (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.) fell short on the night as she finished the game with 13 saves. Junior Kelsie Fralick made 15 saves as she earned the win for the Camels.
Holy Cross out-shot their opponent 16-to-15. The Camels were 0-for-4 on their power plays compared to the Crusaders who capped off the night 0-for-5.
The Crusaders will start the New Year off as they travel to Amherst to take on the Lord Jeffs on Jan. 4. The non-conference contest is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
