Women’s Ice Hockey Comes Away With 3-1 Win At Wesleyan

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – Three Holy Cross players posted one goal each as they beat Wesleyan on the road in non-conference action for a score of 3-1 tonight.  The Crusaders improve to 6-3-0 while the Cardinals drop to 1-3-2.

Sophomore Katie Goguen (Acton, Mass.) netted the first goal of the game 13:36 into the first period, earning her second goal on the season.  One of the captains, Emily Sullivan (Arlington, Mass.) was credited with the assist.

In the second period, two goals were exchanged on both sides.  Junior Nicole Giannino (Bay Shores, N.Y.) slipped a power play shot past the Cardinals goaltender, her fourth goal of the season.  It was Giannino's second point in two straight games.  Freshman Izzy Bagi (Branford, Conn.) and Sullivan (2nd of the game) earned the assists.

Wesleyan's Jessica Brennan scored the only goal for the Cardinals 8:30 showing on the clock in the second period.  The assists were credited to Lottie Barton and Cara Jankowski. 

Holy Cross put the final goal on the board in the third period.  Junior Chelsea Monahan (Cherry Hill, N.J.) scored her third goal of the season, while Jessica Frascotti (Needham, Mass.) posted her first assist and point on the year.

Junior Alexandra Stevenson (Norwood, N.Y.) earned the win between the pipes for Holy Cross totaling 20 saves on the ice and now holds a 4-1 overall record.  Corninne Rivard fell short as she was credited with the loss, while making a total of 33 saves in net.  Rivard now has a 0-2 mark on the year.

Holy Cross is back in action on Tuesday, Dec. 3, as the team travels to Connecticut College in non-conference play.  Game time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
