Stevenson And Goguen Earn ECAC East Weekly Recognition

Alexandra Stevenson

WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross sophomore goaltender Alexandra Stevenson (Norwood, N.Y.) has been named ECAC East women's ice hockey Goalie of the Week for the third time this season and freshman Kati Goguen (Acton, Mass.) has received Rookie of the Week honors for the second time this season after their performances the week of Jan. 14-20, as announced by the league.

Stevenson recorded the win and made 21 saves between the pipes as the Crusaders defeated Colby, 3-1, on Jan. 15. The sophomore then made 39 saves in Holy Cross' 2-2 tie versus Castleton State (1/18), including four in overtime as the Spartans went on a power play. She is now 4-2-2 on the season.

Goguen tallied two goals against Colby for her third and fourth scores of the season. She also recorded the first game-winning goal of her career in the victory. Goguen leads all Holy Cross freshmen with 10 points on the season.

This marks the first time since the 2008-2009 season that the Crusaders have earned league recognition at least five times in one season. Sophomore goaltender Krista Manzanares (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.) was named Goalie of the Week after recording two wins at the Rutland Herald Invitational on Jan. 11-12.

Holy Cross (11-4-2, 5-3-2 ECAC East) will return to action on Friday, Jan. 25, at Plymouth State at 6:00 p.m.
